چکیده

immunosuppressive treatment allowed such an infection to become disseminated. From the start of her illness the patient was thought to have contracted an infection from one of her cats. She admitted to close contact with them and her previous ringworm was further evidence of this. But the puzzling fact remains that Sooty's antibody profile was suggestive of a subgroup A infection while the patient's antibody response suggested infection with a subgroup B Chlamydia. Because of the multiple treatment we cannot attribute the patient's recovery to any one drug. Rifampicin, however, is active against C trachomatis infection of the eye4 and so may have been beneficial.

Twin pregnancy complicated by esophageal atresia, duodenal atresia, gastric perforation, and hypoplastic left heart structures in one twin: a case report and review of the literature

BACKGROUND The antenatal diagnosis of a combined esophageal atresia without tracheoesophageal fistula and duodenal atresia with or without gastric perforation is a rare occurrence. These diagnoses are difficult and can be suspected on ultrasound by nonspecific findings including a small stomach and polyhydramnios. Fetal magnetic resonance imaging adds significant anatomical detail and can aid i...

Duodenal atresia and sudden fetal death. Running head: Prenatal diagnosis of fetal duodenal atresia and risk of fetal adverse outcome

Duodenal atresia occurs in approximately 1:10.000 live births. The outcome of congenital duodenal obstructions, in terms of mortality rate, has improved over the last decades, mainly attributable to the improvement in the quality of prenatal diagnosis and neonatal intensive care. Nevertheless, several cases of sudden intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) in fetuses with duodenal obstruction have been...

Intestinal atresia, encephalocele, and cardiac malformations in infants with 47,XXX: Expansion of the phenotypic spectrum and a review of the literature.

Identification of the 47,XXX karyotype often occurs adventitiously during prenatal fetal karyotyping in cases of advanced maternal age. Although most females with 47,XXX appear healthy at birth, various types of congenital malformations have been reported, of which urinary tract anomalies are the most frequent. We report on 2 newborns with 47,XXX and congenital cardiac defects, one of whom had ...

Intestinal dilatation in the fetus.

Correspondence to: Mr SJ K Holmes. Introduction There are now sufficient data on the sonographic appearance ofnormal fetal gut to allow intestinal abnormality in the antenatal period to be diagnosed, although as yet relatively little attention has been paid to the implications for the child. We present eight such cases. Six children were found to have midgut atresia, three of whom had evidence ...

Congenital Pyloric Atresia with Distal Duodenal Atresia- Role of CT Scan

The mainstay of diagnosis of congenital pyloric atresia is by plain X-ray of the abdomen showing a large gas bubble with no gas distally. But very rarely it can be associated with distal duodenal atresia when the baby may present as lump abdomen. In such a situation apart from the X-ray, another radiological investigation is needed to delineate the exact nature of the lump. Since the role of ul...
